Sierra Donor Services Honors Big Day of Giving 2026 by Encouraging Community to Register as Organ, Eye and Tissue Donors

On this Big Day of Giving, there’s no bigger gift than the gift of life – please say ‘YES’ to signing up as an organ donor now. This Thursday, May 7th from midnight to midnight, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation will host its annual Big Day of Giving. Generous people throughout our region will have a full 24 hours to support their favorite non-profit organizations with financial gifts, but this year you can support Sierra Donor Services (SDS), without spending a single cent.
Big Day of Giving highlights the impactful difference that collective action can make. While financial contributions are important to sustaining nonprofit missions, registering as an organ, eye or tissue donor offers a unique and lasting gift: the potential to save and heal lives. A single organ donor can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of more than 75 others through eye and tissue donation.
“Big Day of Giving is about showing up for one another,” said Sean Van Slyck, Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Donor Services. “Registering as a donor is one of the most profound ways to give back. It’s a decision that transcends a single day and creates a legacy of hope for those waiting for a second chance at life.”
Sierra Donor Services encourages community members to take a few minutes this Big Day of Giving to:
