REGISTER TO BE A DONOR NOW

Our

community

partners

Our community partners are essential to the work we do—educating the public, registering new donors, and caring for donor heroes and their families.

Their expertise, expediency, and cooperation pave the way for others to receive the gift of life.

Hospitals

The hospital’s primary goal is to save their patients’ lives. It is only when all lifesaving efforts have been exhausted or death has been declared that the hospital notifies Sierra Donor Services. Collaboration with our hospitals ensures continued support of the families who rely on us.

Sierra Donor Services partners with all hospitals in our service area. We serve the communities in the following Northern California counties: Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba, and the city of Santa Rosa. We are also proud to be the bridge between those who Donate Life through tissue donation in Northern Nevada and those in need of tissue grafts.

Department of Motor Vehicles

California Department of Motor Vehicles and Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles play a crucial role in donation. These staff advocates ensure that every resident has the opportunity to join the Donate Life Organ Registry and Tissue Donor Registry by checking “Yes!” when applying for or renewing their driver’s license or state ID. Because of them, more people learn of the lifesaving impacts of donation.

High schools

Students are our future leaders, and we empower them with knowledge so they can choose to #BeTheGift by registering as organ, eye and tissue donors.

Each year thousands of California high school students apply for their first driver’s license or identification (ID) card. They are presented with the opportunity to join the organ and tissue donor registry through Donate Life California. Many students are unaware of what being a donor means and how they can greatly help their communities by saying “YES!” to donation when applying for their driver’s license. Providing information to students prior to going to the DMV allows them to make an educated decision.

Funeral homes

Sierra Donor Services works in close partnership with funeral homes to serve families and honor the decision to donate. Sierra Donor Services ensures the wish to give and improve life, along with the desire for a meaningful funeral, will be fulfilled. Sierra Donor Services is available to provide education to funeral homes about organ and tissue donation and to assist on a case-by-case basis. Sierra Donor Services has a staff position dedicated specifically to supporting funeral homes in meeting the needs of donor families.

Funeral Home professionals may contact our support staff (Christopher Donhost, Funeral Services Liaison), a licensed funeral director and embalmer, for additional information about our services.

Together, we help save and improve lives through organ and tissue donation.

Community supporters and corporate partners

Sierra Donor Services relies on the support of other community and corporate partners to spread the message about the lifesaving and improving impacts of organ, eye and tissue donation. These partners may engage their workforce and larger community with donor registration drives, awareness campaigns, and support for the impactful work we do.
