Sierra Donor Services at the Sacramento Juneteenth Festival
June 27, 2024
Saving and Improving Black Lives
Sierra Donor Services joined several other health and wellness organizations to address healthcare inequities for Black Americans at the Sacramento Juneteenth Festival!
Several Donate Life Ambassadors joined us to educate the community about the vital need for a diverse pool of donors, including…
- Keith Ivy, heart transplant recipient
- Joyce Ivy, Keith’s wife
- Lorin Meeks-Harris, kidney transplant recipient
- Earl Lovell, heart transplant recipient
California makes up one fifth of the waitlist in America. Of those waiting for lifesaving transplants in California, 9.5% are Black, yet Black Americans are less likely to say “yes” to organ, eye and tissue donation.
The need for donor diversity is great. Studies show that transplants may be more successful when matched between members from the same ethnic background.
Help us close the gap and increase donor diversity by registering to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at SierraDonor.org!
