Isabel Santoro

Organ Donor

/

March 18, 2016

On March 18, 2016, Isabel became a hero by helping to improve and sustain the lives of nine other people with her gifts of life. The donation of her heart, liver, kidneys, and skin helped to sustain and improve the lives of nine other people. Isabel’s mom heard her daughter’s heartbeat two years later when she met Isabel’s recipient. After Lauren met Vicky, they became friends and continue to keep connected through writing and the internet across two states.

Isabel’s family is thankful for the hope gained through organ donation which allows Isabel’s legacy of helping others to continue. Isabel is forever remembered as kind, helpful, humanitarian who was socially and environmentally conscience.

Saying thank you

Many donor families find that corresponding with the transplant recipient or recipients can be a powerful experience. Donor families can take comfort in sharing stories and sending well wishes to those who live on because of their loved one.

Should you choose to connect, we're here to help. Letters and cards can be a tremendous gift to both the donor families and recipients. To protect everyone, we provide guidelines for communication. Names remain confidential unless both parties agree to share those with one another, and we provide a correspondence address. We are happy to share sample letters to help you get started.
