August 10, 1946 – October 5, 2009
Alan grew up in the Chicago and San Francisco Bay areas. He graduated from Stanford University, and returned to Chicago shortly thereafter. He played football in college and was an avid tennis player. Alan and Michael Roberta were married in Jamaica in 1982. Alan worked in the public and private sectors. He and his wife were foster parents to three young boys and fostered many rescued dogs and cats.
Alan had planned to be an organ donor after his death and his wife ensured that his wishes were carried out.
Alan was a strong, smart, fun and supportive person. He departed this life too early, and left a huge hole in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. We miss him terribly.
